Softball: Host Lady Wolves sweep through Buford tourney
The Class AA No. 1-ranked Buford girls softball team swept all three games in the Buford-Forsyth Central Invitational Tournament Saturday. The Lady Wolves (11-2) outscored their opponents 29-4 in taking wins over Union County (6-4), Chestatee (15-0), and Jefferson (8-0) as two Buford pitchers recorded no-hitters.

New car, bold move give Elliott first semi-pro win at LNS
Sporting a brand new car at Lanier National Speedway, 12-year-old Chase Elliott needed a bold move Saturday night on the final turn to get his first win of the season. Elliott went high holding off two cars and then was able to slid past Austin Hill at the line to get his first-ever win in the Legends semi-pro division.

Softball: Hammond pitches West Hall past Flowery Branch
Pitching is everything in girls softball and Emily Hammond is proving why West Hall is considered an early favorite to win Region 7-AAA in 2008. Hammond tossed a complete-game, four-hit shutout to lead the Lady Spartans to a 3-0 win over Flowery Branch Thursday in a key Region 7B-AAA matchup.
