Lady Dogs stun No. 1 Alabama in softball
ATHENS -- Junior Christie Hamilton tossed a complete-game and freshman Megan Wiggins drove in three runs to lead the Georgia Bulldogs to a 4-2 upset of the top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide on Sunday at the UGA Softball Stadium in front of a record crowd of 1,663.

ATHENS -- Eighth-ranked Georgia smashed four home runs and received a strong outing from junior Nathan Moreau to defeat 25th-ranked Ole Miss 11-4 Sunday to win another Southeastern Conference series.

Swilling gets first-ever LNS win
BRASELTON -- Eighteen racers in the 20-lap semi-pro Legends race at Lanier National Speedway started innocently enough Saturday night. A wild flurry in the middle of the race, however, whittled the number of cars to six and Justin Swilling came out of the pack to win the race, shortened to 11 laps after more than 30 minutes of cautions, for his first-ever victory at the 3/8ths-mile oval.

Big Brown wins Kentucky Derby; filly Eight Belles euthanized
LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY -- Big Brown was pulling away from the field, accelerating with every powerful stride toward the finish line in the Kentucky Derby. The crowd of 157,770 was on its feet and cheering as the big, unbeaten, muscular bay crossed the line first, 4 3/4 lengths ahead of the filly Eight Belles.

Bowyer steals NASCAR race in wild finish at Richmond
Clint Bowyer was a surprise winner at Richmond International Raceway, stealing a win that first seemed destined for Denny Hamlin, then Dale Earnhardt Jr. Neither made it to Victory Lane, though, because of a wild ending that saw three drivers denied the trip Bowyer made to Victory Lane.
