The Buford girls basketball team won won the Jackson County Christmas Tournament routing Hebron Christian 62-25 Saturday night in the championship game.

Steelers sign former Bulldog Haynes
Willie Parker, the NFL's leading rusher when he broke his right leg Thursday night in St. Louis, was officially lost for the season when the Pittsburgh Steelers placed him on the injured reserve list Monday. To replace Parker on their roster, the Steelers re-signed former Georgia Bulldog Verron Haynes, primarily a third down back for the Steelers from 2002-06.

Disabled Hawaii coach to travel with team for the first time
He spends hours on the football field, but his feet never touch the turf. His specialty is dissecting offenses, but he's never played a down. Meet Brian Kajiyama, a first-year graduate assistant for Hawaii who was born with cerebral palsy, scoots around in a motorized wheelchair and communicates by typing into a small computer that speaks in a robotic voice.

UConn women return to No. 1, Lady Dogs seventh in AP Top 25
After nearly a four-year absence, Connecticut is back at No. 1. The Huskies received 49 of the 50 first-place votes Monday in The Associated Press poll after being ranked second all season. Georgia remained seventh in the latest poll.

Last week's three big-time matchups caused plenty of movement in The Associated Press' college basketball poll Monday, except at the top. For the fourth straight week, North Carolina, Memphis and Kansas were the top three teams in the rankings.

Bulls fire Scott Skiles after 9-16 start
The Chicago Bulls were sure this was their season to challenge for the Eastern Conference championship. If they do, it'll be with a new coach. The Bulls fired Scott Skiles on Monday, hoping to shake up a team with one of the worst records in the Eastern Conference.

Clemens plans interview for '60 Minutes'
Roger Clemens posted a video Sunday repeating his denials of the steroids use alleged against him in the Mitchell Report and plans to be interviewed for a future episode of "60 Minutes." The seven-time Cy Young Award winner was accused in the report of using steroids, an allegation made by his former trainer.
