Defending Class AAA girls state champion Carrollton probably didn’t expect to see a team as quick as it is in this year’s state tournament. And certainly didn’t expect anyone to try and press them. But East Hall coach Joey Rider said that was their plan all along Saturday in the first round the Class AAA playoffs at the East Hall gym.

East Hall used a 30-7 third quarter to blow open a close game and then cruised the rest of the way in taking a 62-37 win over Ringgold Friday in the first round of the Class AAA boys basketball tournament.

The Johnson girls tennis team fell 5-0 to West Forsyth Thursday in a Region 7B-AAA match.
