Dogs head to SEC Tourney as top seed
The seventh-ranked Georgia baseball team will head into next week's SEC Tournament, which gets underway Wednesday in Hoover, Ala., at Regions Park as the top seed after winning the regular season title. The Bulldogs are slated to play the No. 8 seed, Ole Miss, at 6 p.m. ET, and the game will be televised live by CSS.

NFL owners may opt out of labor deal
NFL owners could opt out of their agreement with the players union next week, leaving open the possibility of a 2010 season without a salary cap. The labor agreement is on the agenda for the league meetings in Atlanta on Tuesday.

Owings a big hit for Diamondbacks
Arizona manager Bob Melvin seeks out pitcher and former Gainesville High standout Micah Owings on the days he isn't starting. Owings isn't a typical pitcher. On April 29, Melvin called on Owings to pinch hit for fellow pitcher Brandon Medders and the righty-swinging Owings lined his first pitch into the right field seats to tie the game.

Eagles finish off sweep of UNC-Greensboro
Georgia Southern exploded early in game one then held off a late UNC Greensboro rally in the nightcap to complete a series sweep, winning 20-6 and 10-9 at J.I. Clements Saturday. The Eagles improved to 31-20 overall and 15-9 in the Southern Conference.
