What's Happening This Weekend: April 12-14

While the work week has been full of wet and cloudy conditions, forecasts are calling for a beautiful weekend around Northeast Georgia, and there will be plenty to do as well.

Here is a list of weekend events in the area:

Weekend Events Friday, April 12 - Sunday, April 14

FESTIVALS AND EVENTS:

Event Name: Pancake Breakfast
Event Date & Time: Saturday, April 13, 7-11 a.m.
Event Location: Lakewood Baptist Church, Thompson Bridge Rd., Gainesville
Event Details: The event is a fundraiser that supports Hall County’s local police department. The funds raised will support the Cops & Kids Programs – such as Shop with a Cop, Back to School, Holiday Meals, Cops & Christmas and more. This is a free event, but donations will be accepted. No need to register in advance.    

Event Name: United We Run 5K Run & Walk
Event Date & Time: Saturday, April 13, 8 a.m.
Event Location: Chicopee Baptist Church, Gainesville, GA    
Event Details: Come support the United Way of Hall County. Check in begins at 8 a.m., the race begins at 9 a.m. Help us to be united in the fight against poverty.   

Event Name: Northeast Georgia Medical Center Grand Opening
Event Date & Time: Saturday, April 13, 1-4 p.m.
Event Location: 495 GA 400, Dahlonega
Event Details: The new medical center in Lumpkin County is officially opening with some community fun and celebration. The whole family is invited to join in with free food, live music by Kurt Thomas Band, panning for gold, touch-a-truck, tours of the new hospital and more. Parking available at the Home Depot with shuttle service provided.

Event Name: Suwanee Arts Festival
Event Date & Time: Saturday, April 13, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. Sunday, April 14, noon to 5 p.m.  
Event Location: Suwanee Town Center Park, Suwanee
Event Details: The Suwanee Arts Festival features talented artists selling a variety of art in various  medums, including photography, jewelry, pottery, ceramics, wood, sculpture, fiber, glass and more. Live art demonstrations and entertainment will be on the Town Center State. Even your pets are included with a pet photo shoot opportunity and cool pet items. Event Name: Little Beer Festival
Event Date & Time: Saturday, 1 – 5 p.m.
Event Location: Duluth Town Green, Duluth
Event Details: More than 70 breweries will be represented at this event. Tickets are required to sample but not required to enjoy the DJ, food vendors and other downtown businesses. For details, go to goodwordbrewing.com.

Event Name: Learn How to Skate
Event Date & Time: Sunday, April 14, 5-6 p.m.
Event Location: Skate Country, Buford Hwy., Buford
Event Details: Adult only beginner class! Has it been awhile since you’ve been skating? Or did you always want to l earn? Learn how to skate safely, how to stop, how to get on and off the rink and more. If you know a little already, we will be able to introduce some new skating tricks into your skills.

THEATER PRODUCTIONS:

Event Name: The Wedding Singer Theater Production
Event Date & Time: Friday, April 5 – Sunday, April 14
Event Location: The Eagle Theater, Sugar Hill
Event Details: The Players Guild brings you The Wedding Singer to the stage. Rock star, Robbie Hart, is New Jersey’s favorite wedding singer. Will his songs get him the girl of his dreams? Adult language means this show is not for younger audiences.

MUSICAL CONCERTS:

Event Name: Dueling Pianos
Event Date & Time: Friday, April 12, 7:30 – 10 p.m.
Event Location: Boot Barn Hall, Gainesville
Event Details: A sing-along, interactive show. Doors open at 5 p.m. Ages 14+ bootbarnhall.com

Event Name: Babe’s Bayou
Event Date & Time: Saturday, April 13, 5:30 p.m.
Event Location: Boot Barn Hall, Gainesville
Event Details: It’s country music night at Boot Barn Hall! Babe’s Bayou has opened for shows like Luke Bryan, Billy Currington and more. They’ve also been voted Georgia Country Artist of the Year twice! Bring your boots and plan to dance and sing the night away! Ages 14+, Doors open at 5:30, music begins at 7:30 p.m. bootbarnhall.com

Event Name: Rock in the Spring
Event Date & Time: Saturday, April 13, 5:30 p.m.
Event Location: Smithgall Arts Center, Gainesville
Event Details: Hosted by Sisu of Georgia, this is a concert for the kids! Join us for a full line-up: Dave Anderson Band, Shawn Pody & the Soulmates and the Kinchafoonee Cowboys. For details, email [email protected].

Event Name: Sunset Strip
Event Date & Time: Saturday, April 14, 6-9 pm.
Event Location: Lou Sobh Amphitheater, Cumming City Center
Event Details: Sunset Strip brings your favorite music from the last 50 years – everything from 80’s, pop, country, rock and party hits. Bring a chair or blanket and enjoy the fun. Free for the community.

Event Name: Everett’s Music Barn Spring Festival
Event Date & Time: Saturday, April 13, 12 – 11 p.m.
Event Location: Everett’s Music Barn, 4055 Stonecypher Road, Suwanee
Event Details: It’s a full day of bands. At noon, “Skillet Lickers” kicks things off. Eight other bands will take the stage before “Carolina Bluegrass Style” closes out the day around 9 p.m. This is an annual spring festival. It’s free to attend and open to the community. A donation will be taken.  

PET FRIENDLY & FOCUSED:

Event Name: NOFO Brew Co’s 3rd Annual Dog Show
Event Date & Time: Saturday, April 14, 4 p.m.
Event Location: NoFo Brew Co, 6150 GA 400, Cumming
Event Details: Bring your furry friends for awards as the red carpet is rolled out. There will also be pools full of ice for the dogs and plenty of ice cold drinks for their humans. There will be dog vendors with plenty of pup treats and goodies as well. To enter your pet, just arrive at 3:30 p.m. and sign up at the table on the lawn!
