By Austin Eller News Director

A Gainesville teenager was arrested Friday morning after he allegedly shot a BB gun at a vehicle in a neighborhood off of U.S. 129 in Hall County.

The Hall County Sheriff's Office said Monday morning that deputies arrested Matthew Raymond Otting, 17, on two counts each of aggravated assault (felony) and reckless conduct (misdemeanor) in connection with the incident that happened between 1:30 and 2:30 a.m. Friday.

A preliminary investigation determined Otting fired the rifle at a moving vehicle on River North Drive, breaking two of its windows and causing several small dents.

The occupants of that vehicle, who were 16 and 17 years old, did not suffer any injuries. Otting also pointed the rifle at another vehicle, which was occupied by a man, 29, and a woman, 28. He did not fire the rifle at the second vehicle. They also did not suffer any injuries.

Deputies located Otting and recovered the BB rifle a short time later. Otting was transported to the Hall County Jail where he remained without bond as of Monday morning.
