Grants Works Consulting Hosts Federal Grant Funding and Management Summit

By The Associated Press

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mar 6, 2024--

Grants Works Consulting will host its Federal Grant Funding and Management Summit at Commerce Club ATL in Atlanta, Georgia on Thursday, March 28, 2024.

Speakers include James Mosely, Management and Program Analyst in the Minority Business and Workforce Division in the Office of Economic Justice and Equity for the U.S. Department of Energy, and Dr. Robert Nobles, Vice President for Research Administration at Emory University.

As reported in several publications including Route Fifty, The American Prospect, and others, local government officials fear that many communities will be left out of the unprecedented federal investment in infrastructure, climate, and environmental initiatives authorized by the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021).

Many new federal grantees are currently trying to navigate the regulatory and other requirements of their first federal grant with little support and guidance for several reasons, including the need for navigators exceeding the availability.

Further, a May 2, 2023 report from the U.S. Government Accountability Office titled Grants Management: Observations on Challenges with Access, Use, and Oversight, noted that “financial and resource issues make it harder to access grants, burdensome requirements for managing grants make programs more expensive, and agencies should make sure that grants are awarded and used as intended.”

The Federal Grant Funding and Management Summit was created to help demystify federal grants for organizations interested in obtaining federal grants to fund their projects, programs, and innovation, for first-time federal grantees who feel overwhelmed by the rules and regulations, and for those who have experience with federal grants but want to better understand their role as a pass-through entity or be better prepared for an upcoming single audit.

“While the level of federal funding has been categorized as 'unprecedented,' many eligible organizations will not apply for funding because they are unaware the funding exists or they do not have the capacity to apply for a federal grant or manage one once awarded. Grants Works wants to be part of the solution and we’re doing it by hosting the summit,” said Grants Works’ CEO, Patrice Davis.

To address this information gap, the team at Grants Works selected speakers and crafted sessions so attendees leave the summit informed about what it takes to obtain and manage federal grant funding.

Attendees will hear from successful federal grant writers, finance specialists with federal grant accounting and audit experience, and several special guests.

Information about the summit can be found on the event page.
