Cornelia woman injured after crashing down ravine

Authorities have identified the woman who was injured when her car went off a roadway and down a ravine in Habersham County Monday evening.

A report from the Georgia State Patrol Wednesday morning said Peggy Vaughn Blake, age 62 of Cornelia, was driving a Toyota Rav4 west on Crane Mill Road when she lost control of the vehicle and left the roadway.

Blake was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville with visible injuries. While the state patrol did not issue any citations in the incident, they did reportedly issue Blake a warning for failure to maintain lane.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Several safety units throughout Habersham County and nearby communities were recently needed to tend to a driver involved in a rollover crash down a ravine.

Georgia State Patrol continues to investigate the cause of a rollover crash that left the unidentified female driver injured along a ravine on Crane Mill Road at around 5:30 p.m. Monday evening.

Habersham Emergency Services Battalion Chief Brandon Whitney says in a release that the driver's vehicle rolled several times off the roadway down the 70 foot ravine. Gainesville, Cornelia and Baldwin fire department units teamed together to bring the woman to safety before she was taken to a nearby hospital with undisclosed injuries. 

No other vehicles were involved in the wreck, and no further injuries were reported.
