Girls basketball playoffs: Pickens blows past Dawson in Region 7-3A semifinals; White County falls

DAHLONEGA, Ga. — Pickens outscored Dawson County 22-10 in the second quarter to pace a 67-45 win in the semifinals of the Region 7-3A tournament at Lumpkin County on Thursday. 

Isabella Hopkins nailed five 3-pointers in the first half, finishing with a game-high 25 points. She was one of four Lady Dragons in double figures. Caroline Mullins finished with 18 points, Bella Martin netted 16, and Ellison Steinhauer had 10 points. 

Morgan Chester led the Lady Tigers with 14 points, and Eva Bishop pitched in 12. 

Pickens will play Wesleyan in the championship on Saturday. Dawson County will play White County in the consolation game.

Kylie Watkins scored 25 points, and Aaliyah Anderson had 11 in the Lady Warriors loss to Wesleyan in the Region 7-3A semifinals at Lumpkin County on Thursday. 

White County will play Dawson County in the consolation game on Saturday.
