Jason Martorano worked for nearly 30 years as an EMT, Firefighter and police officer before his retirement.
Martorano said throughout his service in emergency services he saw firsthand the importance of CPR. He recently started South Hall CPR a company devoted to teaching it to individuals and businesses.
South Hall CPR offers a variety of courses including American Red Cross r21 OSHA Approved Adult Infante and Pediatric CPR & AED training.
“I have seen the benefits of bystander CPR be critical in saving lives,” Martorano “In incidences where CPR is needed, you only have nine minutes before brain decay starts without oxygen to the brain. So CPR is critical.”
Martorano said he started South Hall CPR to prolong his service to the community.
“The American Heart Association estimates that most people refrain from interacting and giving care when they see [Cardiac Arrest] in the public because they're fearful that they're going to cause harm,” Martorano said. “So the American Red Cross, which I am certified through as an instructor will provide the competence that you would need when you do observe a cardiac arrest in public or at your home. 73% of cardiac arrests that happened in 2022 occurred in the home.”
All of the companies' instructors are certified American Red Cross CPR instructors with years of experience in the field.
South Hall CPR is offering courses in the Reunion Country Club Sydney Lanier Room.
Upcoming classes will happen Feb. 7 at 9 a.m. and Feb. 22 at 5:30 p.m. Both classes are nearly two hours in duration.
