Gas prices are holding steady throughout Northeast Georgia

By Steve Winslow Anchor/Reporter

Prices at the gas pumps throughout Georgia are holding steady this week.

AAA of Georgia's website shows that drivers are paying an average price of $2.95 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline.  The average (as of Monday, January 2) is 6 cents less than one month ago and 29 cents lower than at this time last year.

Montrae Waiters of AAA says that commuters typically pay the lowest price for gas during the months of January of February, but rigid, wintry temperatures, "can affect refinery production, pushing some regional gas prices higher."

Lowest average price for Northeast Georgia is in Stephens County at $2.82 per gallon, with the highest rate in Lumpkin County at 2.98 per gallon.  Hall County's average falls in-between those rates, at $2.91 today.

You can see complete list of gas price averages throughout the state on the AAA of Georgia website, HERE.
