Two men from Macon have been found guilty of robbing a Maysville couple and shooting the husband in 2022 in Commerce.

The Commerce Police Department said on social media that Jaiquan Chase, 22, and Dailan Alston, 23, were found guilty in Jackson County Superior Court on Thursday.

A 62-year-old woman and her 68-year-old husband had just arrived at an antique shop on U.S. 441 on July 23, 2022. That's when Chase and Alston robbed the woman at gunpoint and then shot her husband. Commerce Police said Chase reportedly then searched through the husband's pockets after he shot him.

The two men then fled the scene. They were arrested shortly after at the Crossing Place Apartments.

The husband was hospitalized but has since recovered.

"Commerce Police Department would like to thank the Banks County Sheriff's Office, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the University of Georgia Police Department, and the Jackson County District Attorney's Office for their instrumental work in ensuring justice was served," the Commerce Police Department said in a statement.

Court documents show the two were charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and other charges.
