Gainesville High School Principal Jamie Green said Wednesday he will resign from his position at the end of the 2023-24 school year as his family moves abroad.

Green told AccessWDUN he will finish out the school year and will leave the position at the end of June.

"I've been in Gainesville now for six years, and I've loved every minute of it," Green said. "It's a wonderful school and wonderful community."

Green said he intends to move to Brazil, his wife's home country, to provide his children with an international experience. Green said his wife is also an educator.

"We were very fortunate to be able to talk to a school in Brazil ... and we went through that process and we were presented with an opportunity to move there as a family," Green said.

Green described the move as "bittersweet," but said the move was the right choice for his family.

"Whoever comes in, I think is going to be really fortunate and blessed to have that team that will help them transition, and just kind of continue to build on the good things we've been doing," Green said.
