Scam alert for consumers with anti-identity theft software insurance

By Steve Winslow Anchor/Reporter

Jackson County's Sheriff's Office is issuing another scam alert.

This one comes in the form of emails over a well-known security system subscription.

Sheriff Janis Mangum's office says scammers are now sending emails from "Norton Life Lock" saying $899.99 would be deducted from your financial institution unless you call the number provided.

Scammers would then claim they can offer to cancel the subscription when you give them remote access to your banking account online.

Sheriff Mangum says this is a scam and you should simply ignore and delete this email.

If you have problems with such a scam, you should call your local law enforcement department.
