A man faces charges after a hit-and-run crash and pursuit across portions of Hall County Tuesday evening while in a stolen vehicle.

According to a press release from the Hall County Sheriff's Office, Michael Allen McCombs, 48, was charged with theft by receiving, possession of schedule IV drugs, numerous traffic offenses and other charges. McCombs also had a probation warrant from the City of Gainesville and an active warrant out of Athens-Clarke County.

The agency said a flock camera on Candler Road notified authorities after it spotted the vehicle McCombs was driving and detected it was stolen.

A Hall County Deputy responded to the 1600 block of Candler Road just before 6:45 p.m. and attempted to stop the vehicle. McCombs fled toward Gainesville, striking a pickup truck in the process.

Another deputy followed McCombs to West Ridge Road and then Bradford Street Extension where he witnessed McCombs driving the vehicle down railroad tracks. The vehicle got stuck on the tracks and McCombs exited and ran on foot.

A K9 team was able to locate McCombs and arrested him without incident.

McCombs told deputies he was homeless and did not provide a city of residence when he was booked at the Hall County Jail.
