Towns County authorities arrest woman on drug-related charges during a traffic stop

Towns County officials arrested a Hiawasee woman on Wednesday and charged her with alleged possession of drugs after a search of her vehicle. 

According to the Towns County Sheriff's Office Facebook page, Dana Michelle Henson, 43, was stopped by deputies who deployed a police search dog which alerted deputies to possible drugs in the vehicle. 

Sgt. Bryan Forsyth conducted a search of the vehicle and found a hidden compartment containing “a white substance” which field tests found to be methamphetamine.

Henson was taken into custody and charged with alleged felony possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana.

Sheriff Ken Henderson said, “Sgt. Forsyth used his training and expertise to locate the hidden compartment and [the department] commends Sgt. Forsyth for an outstanding job."
