Nine White County Firefighters gain additional certification

White County Public Safety and White County Fire Service’s Training Academy announces that nine White County firefighters have achieved their Ropes I Certification. 

Firefighters learned proper technique in rope rescue, mechanical advantage rope systems, and rappelling over the two week, 80-hour course provided by White County Fire Services Shift Captain Robby Burke and Firefighters Brent Dunbar and Alex Staton. 

Firefighters learned more than 20 types of knots and how to properly package a patient in a rope rescue response. The certification is governed by the Georgia Fire Standards and Training along with the National Pro Board.

The White County firefighters who completed Ropes I Certification are:   Austin Brown, Justin Ledford, Michael LeFevre, Bradley Martin, Matt Merritt, Josh Milam, Owen Pitchford, Terry Stewart and Josh Taylor.
