School board names new principal for East Forsyth High School

The Forsyth County Board of Education has appointed Kacey Martin, the current assistant principal at Forsyth Central High School, as principal of East Forsyth High School beginning June 1, 2023.

According to a press release from Forsyth County Schools, current East Forsyth Principal Jeff Cheney will retire on Dec. 1, 2023. He will finish his duties as principal on May 31 and will take the position of Special Assignment in the Safety Department until his retirement date.

Martin came to Forsyth Central High School in 2017 from Fulton County Schools. He served as a physical education teacher and head basketball coach at Chattahoochee High School beginning in 2007. 

Martin started his career in education at Shiloh High School in Gwinnett County as a physical education teacher, basketball, golf and tennis coach in 2000. He then accepted a teaching and head basketball coaching position at Loganville High School in Walton County in 2004. Martin holds a B.S. in physical education from Lander University, an M.A. in health studies from the University of Alabama and an Ed.S. in educational leadership from Columbus State University.
