Lilburn man arrested in shooting death of Lawrenceville teenager

The Gwinnett County Police Department has arrested a Lilburn man after a Lawrenceville teenager was found dead with a gunshot wound Wednesday.

According to a press release from the agency, Dennis Calzadilla, 20, was charged with felony murder and aggravated assault in the death of Jose Daniel Martinez, 16.

Martinez was found dead Wednesday at a location on Paden Mill Trail in Lawrenceville.

The agency said Martinez's family called 911 shortly after 1:00 p.m. Wednesday to report Martinez as a missing person. Martinez had reportedly not returned home from the previous night.

Officers were notified that Martinez's last possible known location was on Paden Mill Trail. They canvassed the area and were able to develop leads that led to the arrest of Calzadilla.

Detectives are still working to determine the motive in the incident. Anyone with information should call Gwinnett County Police.

A 16-year-old male was found dead Wednesday afternoon in Lawrenceville from an apparent gunshot wound.

At approximately 1:05 p.m. Gwinnett County officers responded to a missing persons call at 651 Paden Mill Trail. While searching the area, they discovered a 16-year-old male behind the house deceased from a gunshot wound.

Gwinnett Police Homicide Detectives are reportedly on the scene and interviewing witnesses. According to a release, the Crime Scene Unit is also in the area processing the scene for evidence. There is currently no suspect and the motive remains unclear at this time.
