By Austin Eller News Director

No injuries were reported after a weekend house fire in the Lawrenceville area.

Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services said in a social media post the fire in the 2200 block of Spin Drift Way was one of several fires to take place in the county over the weekend.

Crews said that they responded to a kitchen fire at the townhome. Arriving crews found smoke coming from the second-story windows. The occupants stated they were renting the Airbnb in the basement when they smelled smoke and heard the smoke alarms sounding.

The occupants were able to exit the home without injury. The fire was contained to the kitchen area.

"Fire safety is important, even when you are away from home," the post said. "Make sure everyone knows two ways out of every room and out of the rental if there is an emergency and that everyone knows the address of the rental."
