Sawnee EMC to award over $60,000 to charities in Forsyth, Dawson counties

By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

The Sawnee EMC Foundation has announced it is awarding over $60,000 dollars towards charities and schools in Forsyth and Dawson counties.

The funding was recently approved by the foundation's board and most of it will go towards the Foundation School Lunch Program, which assists with funding school lunches for children who don't have the means to purchase them.

Nearly $19,000 will be distributed among seven charity organizations in the area. The grants are part of the Sawnee EMC Foundation's Operation Round Up Program.

“We are always excited to be able to help children in our area. The school lunch program has proven to be successful and continues to build strong community relationships,” Blake House, Vice President of Member Services said. “Operation Round Up is a great way for our members to give back and know that it stays local.”

The foundation board also recently approved over $6,000 in funding to several area teachers for "innovative projects that will be implemented in their classrooms."
