HIAWASSEE, Ga. — Towns County used a strong second quarter to pull away from Highlands, NC, en route to a 57-33 win at home on Wednesday.
Seniors Gage Rogers and Tanner Cunningham led the Indians (2-0) with 12 points each. Senior Walker Underwood pitched in nine points.
Highlands kept it close in the first quarter, leading 13-12 at the end of the opening eight minutes. However, the Indians outscored 16-4 in the second quarter and continued their dominance in the second half, leading by 30 points in the fourth quarter.
The Indians will travel to Taliaferro County on Monday to open Region 8-A Division 2 play.
