Student arrested for bringing pistol to Commerce High School football game

A student was arrested Friday evening after bringing a loaded pistol to a Commerce High School football game.

According to a press release from the Commerce Police Department, a student attending the game approached the Commerce Police Department School Resource Officer and other officers from the agency and told them another student attending the game was armed with a gun.

The officers located the student and were able to detain and search him. Officers located a loaded .45 caliber pistol concealed on the student. 

"The student has been charged through the juvenile court system and remains detained," the release said.

The agency is investigating how the student was able to obtain the firearm.

Additionally, the Commerce Police Department is working closely with Commerce City Schools on the matter.

"The Commerce Police Department is thankful for our strong partnership with the Commerce City Schools," the release reads.
