The Rock Creek Vietnam Veterans and the Rotary Club of Hall County will hold a joint ceremony at Rock Creek Veterans Park in Gainesville Sunday afternoon for the unveiling of a series of new markers that honor area veterans.

Speaking Friday morning on WDUN's Mornings on Maine Street, Mickey Hyder with the Rotary Club said the event will be run from 2 to 3 p.m.

"We will be unveiling our Salute to Veterans Memorial Markers," Hyder said. "We have placed over 100 markers there at the park already, and on Sunday we'll have a service really to honor veterans, and to display those markers that have the names of veterans both alive and deceased."

Hyder said the street will be partially closed near the park to allow for a large crowd to be present at the ceremony.

"We have a lot of thanks to these Rock Creek Vietnam Veterans because a lot of the work was really on their behalf," Hyder said. "The Rotary Club of Hall County is just happy to be a part of it this year."

Veterans Day is Saturday, November 11.
