The City of Cleveland announced Thursday morning it has named Ricky Hunt as the city's new Public Works director.

A press release from the city said Hunt will take up the role effective immediately.

Hunt has been involved with the city's Public Works Department for 42 years.

“As Assistant Public Works Director, Ricky Hunt has decades of experience working with the city’s public infrastructure, making him an invaluable member of our team," Mayor Josh Turner said. "The City Council and I know that Ricky will do a great job leading our public works department and providing great service that our citizens are accustomed to.”

The release said Hunt has a deep knowledge of the city's infrastructure and can quickly identify solutions in an efficient manner.

"Ricky can personally operate every current piece of equipment that the city owns and has shown an ability to deliver results during his tenure with the city," the release reads.

“I personally pledge to work with Ricky and support him and his department in the coming days and months ahead," City Administrator Kevin Harris said.
