A body was discovered Saturday morning in a wooded area near Aviation Boulevard near the Department of Drivers Services and an investigation is now underway.

Hall County Sheriff’s Office investigators were called to the area between the parking lot of the DDS and Queen City Parkway Saturday just after 11:30 a.m. when a body was discovered in a wooded area, according to spokeswoman B.J. Williams.

The body was reportedly “in a late stage of decomposition” when it was originally discovered by a customer of the DDS who was walking on the property, officials said.

It is currently unknown why the individual who found the body was walking on the property. After finding the body, the customer reported it to employees of the DDS, who then promptly called 911.

The decomposing body is believed to be a white male, but no other details are known about his identity, authorities said Monday.

“At this time, the body was transported to the GBI [Georgia Bureau of Investigation], Crime Lab for autopsy so that we can determine the cause of death,” Willams said. “And hopefully we can get an identity on this man as soon as possible.”

The case remains under investigation, in coordination with both the GBI and the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.
