Police searching for suspect after shooting at Flowery Branch apartments

Authorities are searching for a suspect after a shooting Tuesday evening at an apartment complex in Flowery Branch.

According to the Flowery Branch Police Department, officers responded at about 9 p.m. to the 1400 building in the Tree Park Apartments off Thurmon Tanner Parkway in reference to a person being shot.

Police located Mateo Rizo, 19, lying in the kitchen of an apartment with a gunshot wound. The officers immediately administered first aid to the victim until Hall County Paramedics arrived. Rizo was then transported to the hospital. He was in stable condition as of the last update.

A preliminary investigation revealed the incident was drug-related. The suspect was described as a male wearing all dark clothing. The suspect reportedly left the scene in a dark-colored four-door passenger car.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the Flowery Branch Police Department at 770-967-6336. Those with information can also submit a tip anonymously to Crime Stoppers of Greater Atlanta by calling 404-577-8477. Tips can also be submitted online at www.stopcrimeatl.org.

Deputy Chief Todd Templeton with the Flowery Branch Police Department said Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $2000 for information that leads to an arrest in the case.
