Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office arrest man for homicide

By Sydney Hencil Anchor/Reporter

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man Sunday night on Cambria Court north of Buford Highway for the alleged murder of his father.

Catlin Boswell, 36, has been charged with murder and aggravated assault for the alleged stabbing of his parents.

According to a press release, deputies responded to a 911 call in reference to a stabbing. On arrival, they found a man and woman with apparent stab wounds.  John Boswell, 65, was found dead at the scene.  The female was transported to a local hospital in serious condition.

Catlin had allegedly fled the scene prior to law enforcement’s arrival. With the help of the Dalton Police Department and the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office, Catlin was taken into custody without incident.

“Violent crimes like this are still shocking in Forsyth, the fact that a son could take the life of his own father and try to do the same of his mother is beyond comprehension,” Sheriff Ron Freeman said in a press release.

Freeman said he is grateful for the professionalism and rapid work of the department, Forsyth Fire and EMS and other emergency services in preventing another tragedy.

“Without the professional and rapid work by our 911 center colleagues and the Forsyth Fire and EMS, we could be dealing with another victim lost and the suspect still being on the run. Kudos to the teamwork displayed,”  Freeman said.

Catlin is being held in the Forsyth County Jail on no bond. The investigation is still ongoing.
