Hall County to soon issue 2022 property tax statements

September marks the beginning of property tax season and the Hall County Tax Commissioner’s Office is preparing to issue over 90,000 tax statements for real and personal property. The Hall County property tax statements for 2022 will be mailed on Sept. 15 with a due date of Nov. 15. 

To help save the time and resources of citizens, the Hall County Tax Commissioners Office has five suggestions to “save a trip and skip the time “ to pay your tax bill. 

 Making online payments on the Tax Office’s website is the preferred payment method. Payment methods on the website include E-Check (which has a $1.50 flat fee) and debit/ credit card payments (2.5% of the amount plus 0.30 cents per transaction). PayPal Credit, which provides a six-month interest-free, same-as-cash option to pay your property tax bill. The PayPal Credit payment option is a line of credit and is interest-free for six months if paid in full.

Other options include mailing the payment, using the return envelope that is provided with the statement, to P.O. Box 1579, Gainesville, GA 30503. Taxpayers may also call the office to make at (770) 531-6950, as well as use the drive-up box located at the main entrance of the Hall County Government Center at 2875 Browns Bridge Road. 

The Hall County Tax Commissioner’s Office would also like to remind property owners that for properties that have changed ownership during the year, the official property owner on January 1st of each year is responsible for that year's property tax. If a property was sold after that date, it is the responsibility of the buyer and seller to decide who will pay the owed tax. 

For property owners with property tax escrow accounts, tax information is made available to mortgage companies; however, the property owner is still responsible for ensuring taxes are paid by the due date.

If you own property within the city limits of Gainesville, Flowery Branch, Buford, or Oakwood, you will receive a separate city tax bill from that municipality in addition to the Hall County property tax statement.

The Hall County Tax Commissioner’s website will continue to provide up-to-date information on tax payments. 

The Tax Commissioners' Office is typically open on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., however, beginning October 24th, the office will be closed to the public due to maintenance in the building.

Representatives from the Hall County Tax Commissioner’s Office will still be available by phone or email on Mondays and will also be available in a limited in-person capacity on Mondays just outside the Tax Commissioner’s Office for payment drop-offs, to provide general information and to answer questions.
