A man from Buford was shot by a Hall County Sheriff's Deputy Saturday evening in Buford after allegedly fleeing from an attempted traffic stop.

According to a press release from the Hall County Sheriff's Office, the incident happened just after 9:30 p.m. on McEver Road.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said in a press release Marshall Anthony Hooper, 37, of Buford, was driving a motorcycle on McEver Road. The deputy attempted to perform a traffic stop on Hooper when he allegedly fled.

After a short pursuit, the motorcycle crashed. The deputy tried to arrest Hooper, giving him multiple verbal commands, which Hooper allegedly ignored.

The deputy then fired his gun, striking Hooper. Hooper was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The deputy was not injured.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating the incident. The deputy has been placed on administrative leave, as part of standard protocol.

The case file will be given to the Hall County District Attorney's Office for review once the GBI's investigation is complete.
