Gillsville man arrested in connection with overdose death

The Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office and the Cleveland Police Department on Wednesday arrested a Gillsville man in connection with the August overdose death of a Cleveland woman.
 
Olaffia Hester, 27, is accused of felony murder after Katelyn Baker, 23 was found dead in a hotel on Aug. 19.
 
According to a press release from ARDEO, cleaning staff at M Star Hotel Cleveland found Baker’s body in a hotel room. The Cleveland Police Department and the White County Coroner's Office contacted ARDEO once they suspected Baker’s death was an overdose.
 
Hester was in Gainesville when he was taken into custody. The Hall County Sheriff’s Office assisted ARDEO with his arrest.
 
The investigation into Baker’s death is ongoing, and more charges for Hester are expected to follow.
