By AccessWDUN Staff

Dawson County avoided the season sweep in a 13-4 win over East Forsyth on the road Thursday.

The Broncos had beaten the Tigers, 4-2, 9-4, on Monday and Tuesday.

Unlike the first two meetings against the Broncos, offense was not a problem for the Tigers as they scored 13 runs on 11 hits in the blowout win.

The win lifted the Tigers (12-6, 7-2 Region 7-3A) into third place in the Region 7-3A standings, one game ahead of the Broncos (12-7, 6-3 Region 7-3A) and two games out of the top spot.

The Tigers exploded in the first with six runs on a walk by Brandon Cramer, and singles from Andrew Burt, Julian Horner and Sawyer Bearden. Davis Glass also drove in a run on a groundout.

In the second inning, Luke Mulberry provided the fireworks with a solo homer run to right field. Honer struck again with an RBI double as did Glass with an RBI single, giving the Tigers a 9-0 advantage.

The Broncos added a run in the third and in the fifth and got two more in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Tigers also posted two runs in the seventh.

Nick Mullinax earned the win for the Tigers, going the distance while giving up four runs on five hits and six strikeouts.

East Forsyth's Wyatt Barden, Trey Farr, Mathew Lyons, Wyatt Simpson and Lucas Kniola each managed one hit.

NORTH FORSYTH 6,
DENMARK 4

The Raiders took advantage of Denmark's mistakes in the sixth inning to rally past the Danes in an important Region 6-7A win on the road Thursday.

After losing 3-1 on Monday to the Danes (12-6, 4-2 Region 6-7A), the Raiders  (13-6, 3-4 Region 6-7A) were desperate for a win over the region leader to stay in the hunt for a playoff berth.

North Forsyth trailed, 4-1, in the sixth inning and struggled at the plate most of the day. But Denmark, riding the three-run lead into the sixth, gave up a single, two walks and hit a North Forsyth batter.

The Raiders took advance as Tyler Triche scored after Michail Harris was hit by a pitch, Austin McCabe drove home Jake Prince on a sacrifice fly and Brady Holbrook ripped a triple to right field, scoring Brett Barfield and Josh Zirlott to take a 6-4 lead.

Kyle Roper and the North Forsyth defense sat down the final six of the seven Denmark batters to seal the win.

Roper got the win, allowing just one hit in three innings of work. He recorded five strikeouts.

The Raiders face another important game against Lambert on Friday. The Longhorns are one game out of first place.

LANIER CHRISTIAN 10,
COVINGTON ACADEMY 0

The senior recorded six strikeouts on Senior Night at LCA.

Carter Raulerson, Isaac Dinn and Moore had two hits each. Raulerson had two doubles, while Moore, Quinn Winfrey, and Jordan Smith drove in two runs each.
