The Hall County Commission approved a rezoning request at its meeting Thursday evening, paving the way for 143 townhomes at a site on Crescent Drive near its intersection with White Sulphur Road.
Applicant Williams Brothers Development LLC originally said the development would take up a 32.67-acre site with 176 townhomes, but the density was brought down by the Hall County Planning Commission.
Cameron Grogan spoke on behalf of the applicant at the meeting, stating the site will now be 31.8 acres following the list of conditions from the planning commission.
Grogan said the developer will also create a left turn lane into the development on Crescent Drive, as well as a deceleration lane, per comments from the planning commission.
The development will focus on green space and parks, according to Grogan.
"The idea here ... with all that green space, is to really, while we have 32 acres, to not develop from lot line to lot line to lot line, and take up every single square foot, but to bring it into a tighter spot that we can develop in," Grogan said.
One community member did speak in opposition to the request, voicing concern over the potential traffic brought on by the development.
The Hall County Commission approved the request 4-1, with Commissioner Shelly Echols acting as the lone dissenting vote.
