A Lawrenceville woman died Thursday evening after she was struck by a car on Cedar Shoals Drive in Athens.
The Athens-Clarke County Police Department responded around 9:34 p.m. to the area of Cedar Shoals Drive and Crows Nest Court for a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian according to a press release.
The initial investigation determined Carly Johnson, 34, of Lawrenceville, was walking in the northbound lane on Cedar Shoals Drive when she was struck by a Chevrolet Impala that was traveling northbound. Johnson died at the scene.
Lt. Shaun Barnett said the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and called 911. The driver's name has not been released.
This is the eighth fatal motor vehicle crash of 2022 in Athens-Clarke County.
