By AccessWDUN staff

A Carnesville woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Banks County Tuesday morning. Three other people were injured, two of them seriously.

The Georgia State Patrol said Melissa Ann Stamps, 45, was killed when she lost control of her vehicle on SR 63 about a half mile south of Wells Road.

Stamps was traveling northbound on the roadway and traveled off the side of the road, striking a guardrail. As she traveled back onto SR 63, she overcorrected and lost control of her car, crossed the centerline and hit the second vehicle head-on.

The driver of the oncoming vehicle, a 37-year-old Commerce woman, was seriously injured. A 13-year-old boy in the car that was hit also suffered serious injuries and a 16-year-old boy sustained minor injuries.

No charges will be filed, since the victim was the at-fault driver.

The fatal accident happened around 11:40 a.m.
