Taylor edges Walker in Stock 4 photo finish at WBS

Justin Taylor scored a photo finish victory on Saturday night at Georgia’s Winder-Barrow Speedway.

The Jefferson, Georgia racer caught leader David Walker with less than half a lap to go in the Stock 4A feature, and beat him to the finish line by a couple of feet to take the win at the ¼-mile clay raceway.

It wasn’t as simple as hunting down the leader, though, as Taylor had to rebound from a mid-race issue that set him back in the field.

While Walker led from the outset, Taylor began working his way back through the field, picking off competitors one by one. He was in fourth behind second place Glenn Jackson and third place Elliott Brayboy as the laps wound down.

Taylor was working to get to the outside line of the second place battle when Jackson and Brayboy tangled and spun in turn two. Taylor was able to avoid the trouble, and assumed second place as the caution flag came out.

On the restart, Walker grabbed the lead, with Taylor trying to get to the outside groove several times. Each time, Walker held the measure and kept the lead.

On the final lap, Walker led the way down the backstretch, but Taylor finally got the run on the outside line as the leaders entered turn three. Finding traction in the high line, Taylor pulled alongside Walker in turn four, setting up a drag race to the checkered flag.

Taylor got the better run off the corner, edging out the victory by a matter of feed at the line.

Walker finished in second, with Derrick Lord in third, Zack Sanders in fourth and Brayboy in fifth.

In other action, Jacob Rhome took the win in the Stock 4B feature. Keith Guy followed in second, with John Harrison in third, Adam Jones in fourth and Mark Parker, Jr. in fifth.

David McCoy topped the field in the Limited Late Model feature to score the victory. Ken Lampp finished in second, with Blake Craft in third, John Anderson in fourth and Nick Sellers in fifth.

Ty Lowe was the winner in the Hobby 602 feature. David McCoy, Nick Sellers, Michael Lewis and Chris Jones rounded out the top five.

Daniel Doster scored the victory in the Modified Street feature. Tyler Canup came home in second, with Ronnie Poole in third and Jordan Poole in fourth.

Mark Chancey took the win in the Stock V8 feature, with Tim Corbin in second.

Jimmy Johnson was the winner in the Open Wheel Modifieds feature. Eddie Puckett finished second.
