The Associated Press sports writers were almost correct with their pick of Hoosiers as the No. 1 sports movie of all time.
But ... they're wrong. Hoosiers is the No. 1 basketball movie of all time, in my humble opinion, not the GOAT. Furthermore, the ranking of Remember the Titans at No. 18, tied with Rudy and Seabiscuit, is grossly incorrect.
Remember the Titans is the GREATEST sports movie of all time. Rudy is way down the list and Seabiscuit ... just not a fan of that movie. I've never really been a fan of horse racing.
AP has Caddyshack in the top five. Hello, where is Happy Gilmore and Tin Cup? I'm not seeing the Replacements, Cool Runnings, Varsity Blues, The Longest Yard, original and remake, Waterboy or Jerry Maguire in the top 25. I highly question the 70 AP sports writers with these rankings.
Slap shots, a 1977 film, also is in the top-five. Mighty Ducks is way better -- the Flying V baby.
Now, a small disclaimer -- Jeff Hart, Caleb Hutchins and Seth Chapman will probably question my movie knowledge. Those three can quote every stupid movie on the face of the planet over and over and over and over.
As a matter of fact, Hutchins and Chapman had an hour discussion over some senseless Marvel movie -- I think -- during our trip to Valdosta State back in March. Needless to say, I should have made them drive separately.
With that said, I must come clean. I have never seen Slap Shot, Raging Bull, Eight Men Out, Chariots of Fire, Breaking Away, The Pride of the Yankees or Brian's Song, but I will watch them very soon. If they're good enough to crack my Top 25, then I'll adjust my list.
