SUWANEE — Gionni Williams threw for 231 yards and four touchdowns and Dez Brown added 140 yards and three scores on the ground as Gainesville routed Lambert 55-7 Friday night.
The Red Elephants (2-1) matched their 2018 win total with the victory in just their third game of the season.
Gainesville never trailed running out to a 14-0 first quarter lead on a pair of Brown touchdown runs (5 and 64 yards). Williams later connected with Walt Dixon on touchdown passes of 56 and 61 yards sandwiched around the Longhorns’ only score of the game. Williams then found DJ Miller on a 27-yard TD pass as Gainesville took a 35-7 lead into halftime.
Brown added an 18-yard touchdown run in the third quarter and Williams and Lenny Chatman hooked up for a 28-yard TD pass as Gainesville led 48-7.
Tristan Lyon hit Jay Rhodes for a 13-yard TD pass to finish the scoring.
Dixon had a huge game with 4 catches for 161 yards for Gainesville.
The Red Elephants held Lambert to just 49 yards rushing on 28 carries. The Longhorns had 194 total yards for the game. Gainesville pounded out 251 yards rushing for the game.
