Gwinnett County Police are investigating a case involving a man found dead in a pond in Norcross Tuesday around 6 a.m.

A passerby was walking along the bridge near 1700 Indian Trail Lilburn Road in unincorporated Norcross between fast-food chains McDonalds and Krystal when the body was discovered. As the passerby crossed over the pond, he saw the body of a man lying face down in the water. The man was fully clothed.

Cpl. Michele Pihera with GCPD stated in a press release Tuesday the passerby and another person called GCPD 911 center to report the incident.

Officers, the Gwinnett County Fire Department, a crime scene unit and criminal investigators responded to the scene.

The GCFD water rescue team pulled the body from the water after photographs of the scene were taken and evidence was collected. According to the press release, it is too early to determine whether the items collected from the water were related to the victim.

There were no obvious signs of trauma based on inspection. The body was transported to the medical examiner's office for an autopsy.

The identity of the man is unknown.
