Early voting begins Tuesday for special Flowery Branch election

By Ken Stanford Contributing Editor

Early voting begins Tuesday for a June 18 special election in Flowery Branch, which will be held to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of councilwoman Mary Jones.

There are three candidates for the post: Ed Asbridge, Melissa Brooks, and Chip McCallum.

Early voting, which will end June 14, will take place at city hall, Monday-Friday, 8:00-4:30.  The office will be closed Monday, May 27, for Memorial Day.

Jones, who resigned last December, died earlier this month at the age of 76.  At the time of her resignation, Mayor Mike Miller said she was stepping down because of "health issues."
