*The North Georgia Chamber Symphony Spring Concerts lineup:   Friday, May 17, Blairsville, Historic Courthouse on the Square, 7:00;  Saturday, May 18, Dahlonega United Methodist Church, 7:30; and Sunday, May 19, Gainesville, Grace Episcopal Church, 4:00.

*State Rep. Kevin Tanner (R-Dawsonville) was recently honored with the Distinguished Legislator Award by the Georgia 9th District Republican Party.

*The Career Coach will visit the Spout Springs Library in Flowery Branch May 8 10:00-2:00 and the Cumming Library May 2 10:00-2:00 to assist job seekers search and apply for jobs, write resumes and cover letters, and discuss funding for training opportunities.   There is no charge for the service.

*The Gainesville Rubber Duck Derby, a fundraiser for the local Boys & Girls Clubs, will be held May 11 from 3:00-9:00 at the Lake Lanier Olympic Center.

*Suwanee Municipal Court will temporarily move across Town Center Park to City Hall beginning May 1 in order to make room for renovations – as well as an addition – to its existing building at 323 Buford Highway.

*Piedmont College will celebrate the music of Georgia at its Great Composers Series Concert at 7:30 p.m., April 30 in the campus chapel in Demorest.

*Alex Foster, a junior at Lanier Christian Academy, placed second in the recent statewide Georgia Right to Life Pro-Life Oratory and Writing Contest.  Foster had earlier won the local contest sponsored by the Hall County Chapter of Georgia Right to Life.
