By Bryan Pirkle Reporter

No injuries were reported after a boat caught fire on the waters of Lake Lanier in southern Hall County Friday night.

Division Chief Zach Brackett with Hall County Fire Services told AccessWDUN that the initial 911 call brought emergency responders to Sunrise Cove Marina off Flat Creek Road.

"It came in around 9:30 last night as a boat fire 100 feet from the marina," he explained.

Although no word was given regarding how the fire was ignited, Brackett said everyone on board the vessel was able to escape to safety without the assistance of authorities.

"Three occupants jumped into the water and swam to shore," he continued. "They were evaluated and not transported to the hospital."

As for the fire, Brackett said it was quickly put out with the use of a fire extinguisher, and that the boat was then towed to shore by the county's Marine Rescue unit.
