LEXINGTON — Rabun County made sure nothing would keep it from a date with Union County next week for the Region 8-2A title.

The Wildcats used a 28-point first quarter to jump on Oglethorpe County quickly and never looked back in a 49-0 rout of the Patriots Friday night on the road.

The victory for Rabun County (9-0, 6-0 Region 8-2A) set up a one-game showdown with Union County (9-0, 6-0) next week for the region title. The Panthers routed Social Circle 41-6 Friday night to stay unbeaten as well.

Gunner Stockton was again the catalyst tossing four of his six TD passes on the night in the opening period. Stockton had TD passes of 22, 43, and 23 to Braxton Hicks and a 3-yard pass to Sutton Jones as they built a 28-0 lead.

White Stockton and the offense were chewing up the Patriots defense, the Wildcats defense forced five first-half punts and held Oglethorpe County to just 59 yards in the first half. The Patriots finished with just 86 total yards for the game and the Rabun defense picked off two passes.

Rabun County added a 20-yard TD pass from Stockton to Sam Adams in the second quarter and a 7-yard scoring toss from Stockton to Cory Keller in the third quarter. Jones finished the scoring late in the third quarter returning a blocked punt 18 yards for a score.

Hicks had another big day receiving with 6 catches for 120 yards. Seven different receivers caught passes.
