*Northeast Georgia Health System was recently awarded the 2019 National Certification Champion Award in the healthcare system category from the Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing.  NGHS was cited for its commitment to emergency nursing excellence. 

NGHS has also been recognized as one of the nation’s Most Wired Hospitals and Health Systems of 2019, according to data released by the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives.  The Most Wired program conducts an annual survey to assess how effectively healthcare organizations apply information technologies into their clinical and business programs.

*Instructors at Lanier Technical College have nominated 24 students for the Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership competition, according to Kari Register, coordinator for the College’s GOAL program.  Click here to find out who the nominees are.

*The White County Republican Party will meet Oct. 21 at 6:30 p.m. in the Roy Ash Community Room in Cleveland.  The guest speaker will be State Rep. Matt Gurtler. 

*On Tuesday, October 23, at 8 p.m. bridge beams will be set on the new interchange at State Route 316 and State Route 81 in Barrow County  This work will be located on the westbound side of SR 316 and SR 81 with a closure of the inside lane, according to the state Department of Transportation. A pilot car will pace traffic while the beams are set in place.  The work will continue until 5:30 Wednesday morning.

*State Sen. Butch Miller (R-Gainesville) has been named 2019 Legislator of the Year by the Georgia Alliance of Community Hospitals.

*The Gainesville City School System was awarded the Advocate Award by United Way of Hall County for its support of a number of United Way programs.

*Forsyth County Parks & Recreation has installed automated payment machines for boat ramp fees at Charleston Park (5850 Charleston Park Rd.), Six Mile Creek Park (6020 Browns Bridge Rd.) and Young Deer Creek Park (7300 Heard Rd.).
