Gainesville native Ashley Bell now has an office in the White House following a recent promotion.
Bell called WDUN's Morning Talk with Martha Zoller Wednesday to announce his new position. Bell has served with the Trump administration since the beginning, and had most recently served as Regional Administrator for the Small Business Administration.
"Now I'm White House Policy Advisor for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, working under Jared Kushner in the Office of American Innovation," Bell said.
Bell, an attorney by trade, got his start in politics in Hall County.
"Coming from Gainesville and being a county commissioner, you know, I could tell you I always want to thank the people of Hall County who gave me my first chance at being in public service," said Bell. "And to go from the county commission to the White House, it's been a whirlwind experience."
Bell will get the chance to serve on the policy creation side of politics in this latest venture.
"To come up with the new ideas, to be able to execute new policies that the president can execute, hopefully this term, and finish out strong," Bell said.
Bell said he believes his willingness to serve with a president he supports led to his promotion.
"It just grows every day by working for a president that I know wakes up every day thinking about the American people, who understands business and is unconventional," Bell said. "I think having someone who thinks outside of the box working in an office where your job is to think outside of the box, can't be a better place for you."
