GAINESVILLE — Lakeview Academy kept pace with Athens Academy in Region 8-A with a 79-41 rout of Athens Christian Saturday at the Lakeview gym.
Adam Cottrell (23 points, 6 assists, 5 steals) and Blake McIntyre (17 points and 6 assists) combined for half of the Lions points and dished 12 combined assists as well in one of their best outputs of the season.
Arturo Varela added 11 points, KJ Millwood pulled down 8 rebounds, and Holden Cooper had 6 points, 7 assists, and 3 steals for the Lions.
It was the fifth straight win for Lakeview (13-5, 4-0 Region 8-A) who is tied with Athens Academy (10-1, 4-0) for first place. Both teams are just one-half game ahead of Hebron Christian (11-7, 3-0).
The Lions next will travel to Prince Avenue on Tuesday in another key Region 8-A game.

North Hall held the War Eagles to 21 points through three quarters to win the non-region battle against Chestatee on the road Saturday night.
Luke Gunter scored 18 of his 21 points from the 3-point arc to lead the Trojans. Jonah Bull led Chestatee with 21 points.
North Hall outscored the War Eagles 37-21 in the first 24 minutes.
Chestatee tried to rally in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Trojans 25-16, but ran out of time.
Brenton Nicholson added 10 points for the War Eagles.
Clark Howell scored 6 points and JT Fair had 5 for North Hall.
North Hall (9-11) will travel to Fannin County on Tuesday. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
Chestatee (12-7) will host Flowery Branch Tuesday. Tip is 7:30 p.m.
