Hall officials release names, charges of four suspects of Friday chase

By AccessWDUN Staff

Hall County authorities have released the names and charges of four suspects of a Friday pursuit that started with a traffic stop in South Hall County and went through several counties, but they say they are still looking for a fifth.

According to Hall County Sheriff's Office spokesman Derreck Booth, the incident unfolded just before 3 p.m. when a deputy stopped a car being driven by 33-year-old Devin William Hall of Miami, Florida for speeding on  Friendship Road near Friendship Farms Drive.

"Two male suspects in the car ran on foot from the stop," Booth said. "Flowery Branch Police responded in a support capacity."

Booth said one of the suspects, identified as 27-year-old Larry Dwayne Norwood of Atlanta, ran into Friendship Farms Subdivision and got into a vehicle with two women inside. The second suspect escaped into some woods in the area and remained on the run as of Saturday afternoon.

Booth said at first authorities thought Norwood had carjacked the vehicle with the women inside. The two women have been identified as 41-year-old Joy Marie Galliher of Atlanta and 20-year-old Danielle Azalea Bunch of Powder Springs.

"Deputies pursued the apparent carjacked vehicle southbound and requested the Georgia State Patrol," Booth said.  "A trooper took over the pursuit on Interstate 85 in the area of Pleasant Hill Road. Hall County Deputies followed to provide any needed assistance. At approximately 3:32 p.m., the Trooper performed a PIT maneuver on the car in the area of Interstate 285 and Peachtree Industrial Boulevard."

Booth said at that point, the vehicle wrecked. No one was injured, he said.

"[Norwood] was immediately taken into custody. Further investigation revealed that the two women in the vehicle weren’t victims of a carjacking, but were actually affiliated with [Norwood]," Booth said.

He also said the investigation showed what appeared to be a physical struggle in the fleeing vehicle was actually the suspects switching drivers from one of the females to Norwood.

In addition, Hall remained on the scene of the initial traffic stop, and Booth said he was charged with driving under the influence of drugs.

In a release Saturday evening, Booth said that all four suspects remained in jail. Norwood faces charges of reckless driving, fleeing and attempting to elude, felony obstruction of an officer, and possession charges related to a handgun and cocaine found in the car after the chase.

Bunch also faces possession charges related to the gun and cocaine. She's being held with a bond of over $19,000. Galliher faces identity fraud charges related to a false driver's license and is being held for federal authorities.

Norwood is also being held for federal authorities, as well as authorities from Kennesaw and Cobb, Douglas, Fulton and Houston counties.

Booth said that the unidentified fifth suspect has still not been found and officials have no new information on them as of Saturday evening.
