Traditions of Braselton to host 2nd Annual Sheila Fest on September 22

By For AccessWDUN

Residents at Traditions of Braselton – a sprawling 1140-acre master-planned community in Northeast Georgia – are already practicing their best air guitar in anticipation of the Second Annual Sheila Fest. Set to take place on the event lawn in front of the newly remodeled Owners Clubhouse on September 22, the music festival will include performances by several local bands, an ultimate kids’ area with bounce houses, tailgate game truck, food trucks and area vendors. Sheila Fest is open to the public and tickets are just $25/person. Kids 13 & under will be admitted for free. A portion of the proceeds from this event will benefit Peace Place, a domestic violence program that serves survivors of family violence in Banks, Barrow, and Jackson counties in Georgia. Peace Place provides emergency shelter, transitional housing, legal advocacy, safety planning, children's services and more.

“The question I get most often is ‘why is it called SheilaFest?’,” said Jennifer Giacin, Community Association Manager for

Traditions of Braselton. “In 2015, one of our beloved residents and social committee members – Sheila Anderson – had a massive heart attack and nearly lost her life. A true music lover, Sheila was inspired by her second shot at life to launch a music festival at Traditions of Braselton. The festival is named as a living tribute to her – after all, that’s what this community is all about… those special individuals that are an integral part of the whole. Sheila’s ideas, connections to local bands and countless hours of work to pull together something amazing with the help of her friends and neighbors in the community resulted in one of the largest events Traditions of Braselton has ever hosted. We expect this year to be even bigger and better than our inaugural event. I – for one – can’t wait!”

Gates to Sheila Fest 2018 open at 11 a.m. and attendees are invited to bring their tailgate tents, grills, chairs and coolers. Music is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Tapped to play this year’s Sheila Fest are Marty Gassner, The Take Twos, Redneck Blonde, Drop Tailgate, Departure – A Journey Tribute Band and Interstellar Echoes – A Tribute to Pink Floyd. Tickets can be purchased online at https://sheilafest2018.eventbrite.com. Limited vendor opportunities and sponsorships are currently available.
