GDOT: Lane closures on Browns Bridge Road planned for tonight

By AccessWDUN Staff

The Georgia Department of Transportation is warning commuters about lane closures along Browns Bridge Road (SR 369) Thursday night.

"Beginning at 7 p.m., concrete pouring activities to complete one of the caissons, or columns, for the new bridge will continue overnight to 6 a.m.," said GDOT spokeswoman Katie Strickland.

Then, beginning at 8 p.m., crews will be resurfacing one of the lanes on Browns Bridge Road. Work is currently underway on a 4-mile stretch of the roadway.

The replacement of the State Route 369 bridge was awarded to Scott Bridge Company Inc. in fall of 2017 with a scheduled completion in April 2020. This project replaces Brown Bridge, the iconic green metal truss bridge, over the Chattahoochee River/Lake Lanier. This project’s construction contract amount is $27 million.

C.W. Matthews Contracting Co. Inc. was awarded the resurfacing project in fall of 2017 with a completion date of October 31, 2018. This project consists of 4.196 miles of resurfacing on State Route 369 from the Forsyth County line to State Route 53. The construction contract amount is $1.4 million.
